It seems like every time we see Johnny Depp’s name in headlines lately, we kind of know that we’re about to read something weird.
Marital troubles aside, there’s that $3 million cannon he bought to shoot Hunter S. Thompson’s ashes over Aspen, and other ridiculous spending — including an impressive $30,000/month on wine.
And while the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star is known for his extravagant real estate tastes — have you seen this 5-penthouse combo Johnny Depp is trying to sell? — his latest endeavor is a quirk fit for a king.
According to Us Weekly, Johnny Depp has recently went out and purchased 5 neighboring cul-de-sac homes in the Hollywood Hills. Hoping to transform them into a massive compound, Captain Jake Sparrow wants to build an underground tunnel system to connect all the homes — plan dwarfed by a neighbor who owns the 6th home and refuses to sell.
And that’s despite numerous reports about the star’s financial woes, recently stirred by his former business management company. In terms of real estate alone, Johnny Depp has reportedly spent $75 million on 14 residences with the past years.
