Daren Metropoulos, who lives right next door to the Playboy mansion, has just become the new owner of the Playboy mansion, the Wall Street Journal reports. The final selling price has yet to be confirmed.
Apparently, the 32-year old who bough the property next door back in 2009 for $18 million — from the same Playboy king, Hugh Hefner — purchased the massive estate because “the heritage of this property transcends its celebrity and to have the opportunity to serve as its steward would be a true privilege.”
Metropoulos is the younger son of American billionaire investor and businessman C. Dean Metropoulos — the former owner of Pabst Brewing and 2014 Twinkie buyer (and proclaimed saviour.)
Here’s a Super Tuesday-appropriate photo of Daren Metropoulos, accompanied by Hillary Clinton and brother Evan.
The massive 20,000-square-foot estate, world-renowned for its wild and lavish parties, is located in Holmby Hills, one of three affluent neighborhoods (along with Bel Air and Beverly Hills) known as the “Platinum Triangle.”
The Playboy mansion, home to the iconic cave-like grotto, boast 29 (!) rooms (12 beds, 21 baths), and pretty much every amenity imaginable: a catering kitchen, wine cellar, home theater, separate game house, gym, tennis court, freeform swimming pool to accompany the grotto, and a four-bedroom guest house.
And if you think the $200 million listing price or the house’s wild history stand out the most, here are a couple of things I’d like to run by you:
- The buyer will have to house Hugh Hefner on the property for as long as the Playboy king is alive
- The Holmby Hills estate has a zoo license (insert inappropriate comments below)
And here are some photos, before somebody pulls the listing off the market:
