All the hours I could have spent writing for Fancy Pants, but instead binged “Grey’s Anatomy”, “Scandal”, or “How to Get Away with Murder”…
Kind enough of Shonda Rhimes to give me some good material to work with in return: the TV producer and writer has just bought a charming Tudor style manor in Hancock Park — her third in the area.
Rhimes paid $4.6 million for the Tudor-style home, built back in the 1920s.
And guess who the real estate agent was? Joss Flagg, the Rodeo Realty star of Million Dollar Listing L.A. (ironically, the reality real estate equivalent of Grey’s Anatomy).
The roughly 4,900-square-foot home has been extensively restored and updated over a decade ago by designers Michael Mueller and Norman Wogan into what the listing touted as “a handsome expression of understated luxury & taste”. We’ll take that as “fit for the queen of TV drama”:
The brick-faced property comes with 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms and is well appointed with upscale features such as a three-tiered fountain that anchors the grassy front yard — where a discreet archway leads to a cozily compact porch and front door that opens to a marble floored center hall entry flanked by formal living and dining rooms, Variety reports.
The graciously baronial living room has a fireplace and a small adjoining office while the dining room, with coffered ceiling and nearly floor-to-ceiling 24-pane casement windows, links through to a center island kitchen outfitted with up-to-date appliances and two-tone beige and brick colored stone counter tops on distressed wood cabinets. An informal dining area just off the kitchen has fireplace and the neighboring library/family room has a wood beamed ceiling and French doors to the backyard.
